Thunder Thunder Thunder Thundercats HO!

So Lorene got the DVD box set of Thundercats while a bunch of YDMers and 20+s were in Miri, Malaysia and we ended up watching it. Below are a few of the quotes in the first couple of episodes

Tygra: Rules are only meaningful if people agree to follow them. Otherwise they’re just words.

Jaga: Be not hasty in your decisions, Lion-O. Your instincts may be correct, but one does not make decisions by instinct alone. Let the facts weigh heavily on your mind and listen to your peers with caution

Lion-O: I can’t believe I misjudged that Pumm-Ra like I did.
Tygra: First impressions are often wrong. Trust is something that takes time to grow.
Lion-O: And I guess new friends are not as easily made as I thought.

After hearing that I was pretty much blown away and just wonder how many shows are like that nowadays. I wonder if they have such straight forward and timeless advice. If anybody knows please let me know. Thanks =)

  1. Let’s see if I remember any…

Off the top of my head and I’m sure there is is G.I.Joe.

Not confirmed are other shows around that time frame has as well like Care Bears, He-Man, Sesame Street, Cro, Saber Rider, etc…

I don’t think Disney cartoons have any messages at the end of the show but they have them in the episodes themselves…

No Hanna Barbera shows have any or much messages.

No anime which was translated over to the U.S. at that time have messages as well.

  2. I could be wrong about no Hanna Barbera cartoons have messages… I just remembered shows like Centurion or Johnny Quest might have messages.. just not shows like Flintstone, Jetsons, Wacky Races, Scooby Doo, Grape Ape, Captain Caveman, Secret Squirrel, Birdman, Space Ghost, etc…
