it works!!!! after hrs of frustration and @&*^!&*$^!&*$^! my opengl stuff actually works!!!! :D:D:D

lots of freaking *!&!^$&!^$! errors.. alwez had the linker error..
tried loads of stuff from getting files from the net, whalbar, cd, website…
initially i didnt have the opengl dll and glu lib and header files. finally got those and kept getting the freaking linker error w/ Dev-C++…
i wasnt sure if the configuration and all that were correct so tried to get Borland C++BuilderX that i read works in some opengl tutorial that i cant seem 2 find anymore :”(:”(

i did what all the online faqs/ tutorials suggested i do.. and still it didnt work!!!! 1st of all they ALWEZ give configuration in Visual C++ so if u dont have that u r practically screwed… no real help 4 u… so here i am left on my own…
i downloaded the C++BuilderX like 3 times!!! the 1st 2 times using Stardownloader via the ftp site.. either somethings wrong w/ the ftp site giving a corrupt file or stardownloader is screwed up when it combines the files coz i got header errors and it couldnt unzip properly!!!! the file itself was 300+MB!!!!! thank goodness im on NUS network :P but still took like an hr 2 download…

so here in tutorial i was ‘bored’ and really wanting 2 get the thing working…
spent at least 3hrs yesterday tryin 2 debug the problem..
at least C++BuilderX gave useful error msgs. found out it was some problem w/ the lib files.. needed to convert them to omf format or something.
finally did that but it still didnt work… got some new error!! i was kinda happy coz at least i didnt have the usualy linker error.. but still it didnt work!!! :”(:”(
so decided to mix and match files as i have diff versions and diff files from diff sources… and FINALLY it works!!! heck i dont even know which files i am currently using but i DONT CARE!!! it works!! thats all i know hehe :D
so finally i can program opengl programs on my comp.. *phew*
hopefully this can save me for CS3241 Computer Graphics… well actually… maybe not :P
ok.. now better start paying attention 2 circuits tutorial :P
but at least its ‘easy’ :P:P

i admit i did ‘get up’ 4 a while and notice my a/c was off coz i set it 2 auto switch off at abt 830…
then i trickle back off 2 sleep…
then lo and behold, what happens??

its a holiday!!! no1 has school 2day.. so we dont need an overzealous alarm clock ringing for like 5min in the morn!!!!

yup. been studyin 4 the past 2 days.
need 2 catch up on work and lectures that i skipped 4 the IES Fair 2004. :P

and yup.. i did survive on 2+hrs sleep that day (last day of ies fair 2004):|
all the way till abt 12 midnite..

well lets c what happend over the past few days.
the 1st day of the fair was wc3: TFT competition.
turn out was good despite the rain. some good matches. replays r downloadable from here from the IES website
2nd day was rainin as well but it was a good finals match :D
congrats 2 the winners and thank you 4 all the participants who played :D
gunbound competition was more exciting than i thought :P
but i tink i still prefer worms… grenade only match :P
speaking of worms.. i wanna play worms3d!!!! where sells it?? :'(

2 day nite i was doing security duty. the nite i slept 2 hrs.. spent the time clearing up the IES comp via remote desktop due to lack of HD space and also ended up playin q3 w/ wooi boy from like 5-7 i tink :P
q3 is fun… wanna have that in next ies fair :P

the last day it didnt rain so quite a lot of ppl came. the gunbound crowd was more than i expected :P skipped all my lectures on that day :P
then after the whole thing was over it was pack up time.
packed everything up then it was celebration time!!!

came back that nite at abt 12..
the splet all the way till 12 the next afternn ;p
12 hrs sleep.. :P:P
12 + 2 = 14hrs for 2 days averaging out 2 abt 7 which is good enuf i tink :P

spent yesterday catchin up on work and 2day as well..
was kinda bored this morn esp w/ like 1.5gb free space of my HD.
so decided to move a few stuff on2 my external HD.. and then waht? get like 9+gb free!!!!! :P
hehe. so i installed max payne that i bought the other day, hehe.
wanna play that now :P but not much time :(.. just play bit by bit :D

well let me review the past 2 days..
wednesday 1st day manned the network games ‘booth’ the whole day from 1200-1700. quite tiring but seems easier compared to the work every1 else was doin :$:$
was feeling guilty by the end of the day :$:$
but it was kinda hectic changing mice, keyboards and such :p
and restarting zhenyang’s comp coz it was ‘slow’ and scared that it would lag like it did during testing.. lousy dell :P

at least yesterday i got a good nites sleep :D:D abt 8 hrs i tink :D:D
had 2 go tut in the morn but then ‘skipped’ tut just 2 come do the network games :P i had like 3 hrs 2 fit in 3 matches and it just nice. finished at abt 1330 and i had lab at 1400.
comp graphics lab at 2 was kinda bad.. cant stand staring at a CRT for more than 2hrs straight.. hurts my eyes…
the ‘funny’ thing was… i tink those ppl who did ‘extra’ from what was meant 2 be done for the lab got A while those who didnt got A-.. just seems weird 2 me

come back 2 IES fair after lab to help pack up and stuff.
went back 2 PGP for dinner. finally had dinner at pgp after a long time :P
then went 2 sleep.. got like 2hrs sleep… ppl calling me when i wanna sleep :'(
then candy called at 10.. so i ‘lost’ 30min of sleep coz i wanted 2 wake up at abt 2230 :P
anyway.. now im here and i tink i underestimated the time for gunbound 2moro :|
gonna be a ‘bad’ day.. i tink i better ‘test’ gunbound later… c how long it really takes.. maybe just hope that some teams dont show :$ just 2 make sure there is enuf time :$

been out since 1230 and just came back at abt 0030 :|
it was IES outing 2 Istana 2day. met w/ Rom and we left to Dhouby Ghout MRT station. it was raining so I borrowed 1 of Rom’s umbrellas.
the ppl supposed to go were KC, Zhiqiang, Tingyi, Rom, Gordon, Candy and me, but Candy cancelled last minute.. must be sleeping that pig :P
anyway we went to Burger King to eat lunch 1st and we didnt have any coupons so we approached the counter and they gave us coupons!!! well… not exactly us, i think it was Rom and Tingyi who actually got the coupons so “Thank you!!” :D:D

after lunch we went to the Istana and that was when I realised that I left Rom’s umbrella at the MRT station :$:$:$:$ Sorry :$:$
but we went to the Istanan anyway because we were in Q anyway… and it was not exactly a nice crowd (as shown below)

so strolled arnd the grounds of the Istana taking photos here and there.. then it started 2 rain!! :| so as ‘punishment’ 4 losing Rom’s umbrella i walked in the rain. after finding shelter we went into the presidential house i think, not too sure what its called :$ :P. every1 has to pay $2 to enter. walk in, no photographs allowed, and just strolled in and out of rooms. nothing much to really see in there tho.

after that we decided to leave. after a slight detour to a statue of Queen Victoria we went back to the MRT station w/ hope that Rom’s umbrella was still there.. well i guess it was me w/ the hope… a guilty conscience doesnt help :$
and yes.. it was not there :$:( so still feeling guilty…

anyway then we walked to Orchard trying to find a movie to watch. we tried Plaza Singapura but there was nothing really that good, only Peter Pan that we didnt really want to watch. we wanted to watch The Last Samurai but Rom said she was gonna watch it 2moro w/ her frens. I saw a poster advertising Garfield the movie.. wonder how that will turn out.. so finally get to another movie theatre and ends up that we watchin Peter Pan at 2150 :P life.. :P
anyway, after that will still like abt 4 hours till the show (at least i think it was 4 hrs.. cant really rmmbr) we went to Tingyi’s place :P
got a free dinner there hehe :P and my 1st ang pow in S’pre!!! :D:D
that reminds me.. i still havent opened it… maybe shld frame it up :P

as they say time is $ and apparently this time, time was $10.80. well that was the fare 4 the cab. got back at abt 0030 and showered and now tired but not really sleepy surprisingly…

oh yea 4got 2 mention 1 thing. we had decide to buy popcorn for the movie since they gave us coupons, $1 off family combo. initially we bought 1 family combo at the stall just next to the ticket counter. got 2 large drinks and a large popcorn at $6.10. so then we went to the theatre to get our seats. we didnt think it was enought popcorn so we decided to get another family combo at the different stall which was just next to the theatre in which we were gonna sit. ordered the same family combo w/ the other coupon they gave us. this time it cost $5.50 but we only had tin drinks!!!! what the heck was this.. so inconsistent.. !*$!&$*(!&$*(!$

anyway.. 2moro (later) gonna be a long day. REALLY have to start studyin already :”(:”( cant afford anymore slacking :$
