Little Red Riding Hood swims!!!! =D

If you are wondering what LRRH (Little Red Riding Hood) means its the name of my boat =D She works, but she has a few bugs here and there :(
I think the motors are either not good enough or uses to much current.
Testing in Prince George’s Park Residences (PGP/PGPR) fountain tomorrow =D Hope I dont get too many funny stares :P
Hopefully it will work well with the lead acid accumulator :)
Going to be a busy weekend with assembly programming for my EE3208 Embedded Computer Systems module. Doesnt help that I didnt learn much assembly programming in EE2007 Microprocessor Systems. It wasnt a conducive way of learning the language. Sigh :(
Need to catch up on sleep as well :(

Been looking through lots of free software just now after trying to find a proper hex editor for my EE3208 project so that I can combine my sound files into 1 big chunk for easier burning into the EPROM. If you dont understand my last statement it doesnt matter. Nothing I really want to describe. Let me reiterate to all ECE students of NUS. EE3208 really is a module where you actually learn things. However, and thats a BIG however, it is VERY VERY VERY time consuming. But it is worth it. At least I think so. If you are up to the challenge I dare you to try :P Just dont blame me for anything :P

Anyway below are a few good links for free and even open source programs for just about anything you would need to do.

xtort.net: complete freeware collection: It all started from this site :P

GNUWin — Open your Windows !
The OSSwin project: Open Source for Windows!
TheOpenCD
Win32 SAPPS _ Stand Alone Apps

TinyApps.Org: Another nice site I’ve bookmarked for a long time :)
Back to resting I guess. Been a tiring week and 3 projects due in 2 weeks. In exactly 2 weeks I will be relieved for all the projects being over but that is also the time of the start of the reading week for exams :|
Reading week is going to be bad :( LOTS of things to catch up on :(
Anyway I should stop typing. Think I’ll go get some ice cream :P
Enjoy your weekend people

And so it continues

My bad day is becoming more than just that. Screwed up quiz I had this morning. My EE3208 board is screwed up so I cant even test any software I’ve written. And its far from finished. Hardware still needs some changing. My boat is yet to be realised. And I have 2 more labs to do. Now I cant sleep because I’m feeling too panicky. This is my lousy sucky life. Oh wait I havent even mentioned about studying. When will that come in I dont know. Project deadlines all in 2 weeks. How long can one survive without sleep? I may find out the good or bad way. So what else can I do now except program EE4210 Computer Communications Networks 2 project.
Whats the worse that could happen? Fail the module and because of that I wont fulfil the prerequisites for the other module that I want to take. The stupid thing is that the module I want to take along with its prerequisites are offered only in the second semester. I worse comes to worse I’ll be extending 1 year study here. Oh wait thats if I live that long. Will all the earthquakes and stuff I bet the end of the world could come to. And I wont be surprised.
Enjoy life while you can people.

1 heck of a week

Been busy doing EE2001 (the remote controlled boat) and EE4210 networks 2 projects. EE2001 is pretty simple. Got the communications part working in a day =D Something my friend failed to do for a few weeks……. grrrrrr
Networks project doesnt seem to be added much more from the demo. This is due to the fact that there was a lot of code to clean up but now things seem pretty good. Things starting finally seems to be getting better =D
But I still have EE3208 Embedded Computer Systems project to do =|
At least I opted for the S/U (satisfactory / unsatisfactory) option so that I wont affect my average =D=D But the project is still =|
Been doing EE2001 report as draft is due at the end of the month. I think I’ve done the template and half of my part. A few more hours and it’ll be done, at least for my part =D
And next week it just has to be the 1st week where there is a quiz in EE2011 Electromagnetism tutorials :”( At least the question is from the previous tutorial =P And the 2nd part of the module which is being taught now is a lot of ‘sub in equation’ questions. Thats ‘good’ in the sense that you dont have to study much, but ‘stupid’ in the fact that you dont learn much by doing that.
Anyway I better relax for a while before getting back to work. Maybe :P

Games

I want to play. Now even more normal. There were 10 people on my server. Got lots of work to do. I work slow.
Feel I screwed up the presentation today thats worth 30% of the final grade. Anyway I better get back to work. 1 hour behind time already.

EE3208 Embedded Computer Systems

That seems to be the only thing on my mind these few days…. Not by choice.
Wire wrapping the board and it takes so freaking long!!! :'(

Very rewarding module, in the sense that you actually LEARN in the module (something very different from other modules I have to sadly say)……
If you have the time that is.

Anyway maybe I should get back to wire wrapping. Maybe 1/5 of the way there? Night after night wire wrapping. I still need to the the report :|:'(
EE2001 and EE3208. Thats all I will be thinking of this weekend :(
Through in a bit of EE4210 Computer Communications Networks II and we have an ‘enjoyable’ weekend =D :P

Have a nice night people =)

3 projects

I have 3 main projects this semester. Less that last semester however workload much more. 2 of the projects is 100% of the module grade. I feel that the projects are good but just that I have no time to do them.
Sleep deprived and I guess going to be more sleep deprived. What to do what to do? Don’t sleep :P

RAR files dangerous?
Garry’s Mod for Half-Life 2. Take a look. Nice screen shots.

Anyway I better get back to work.
Warning to juniors, even though EE3208 is a very good module be prepared to work your butt off. Really

Opera rules!!! =D =D

Just read my bro’s blog and saw this.
All I can say is muahahahaha =p
But really I like Opera and I have liked it since version 3.21 =D
Yes its not perfect, yes it has ads (well only if you dont register/ crack it =P) but for me its all that I want from a browser and possibly even more I have yet to find out =D

To answer my bro’s question of him not seeing much difference is that Firefox is a more plain simple browser for those people looking for just an IE replacement. Opera on the other hand is more of a power browser offering more features (integrated mail client, IRC, PIM, notes) without having to install extensions. Speaking of extensions my friend installed a compatible extension for FF 1.0 and it caused his comp to crash and lose all his FF bookmarks.

Both are great browsers I admit. Opera isnt perfect either, it has some problems here and there. The most daunting ‘problem’ for new users I would guess is the ads; I bet there are people who believe that the ads are spyware but that is not true (Refer here). If you dont like the ads perhaps you could ask your university / school to get FREE licenses thats what I’m doing now :P

Firefox does support somethings that Opera doesnt. For some reason I cant access some https sites on Opera because Opera says it requests a login authentication method that is not supported but it works in FF *shrug*. MathML works better in FF the last time I checked.

Anyway I recommend trying both but for me Opera works the best and the way I like it. Customizable, feature rich, totaly a different and refreshing way to broswe the web and I wouldn’t have it any other way =D

Happy Chinese New Year to all!!!!

Just came back. Went out for dinner and then walked around the Esplanade. They got lots of stuff going on there. Lots of carnival games and stuff. Brings back memories of when I was in International School when they were having carnival games and such. I remember something to do with hitting a coconut with tennis balls I think as well as this 1 game where you roll a coin in order to land on a coloured spot. A green spot means double your coin value back or something like that. I remember playing that a lot and getting money back hahaha :P Signs of a young gambler? :P

Had dinner and girlfriend’s aunt’s place. Watched a movie starring Andy Lau (at least thats what my girlfriend said, I dont know who Andy Lau is :P) playing Mahjong. Ever since I’ve learnt how to play Mahjong during the IES Chalet early in January I want to play more :P haha

Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! =D
