1 computer 4 users!!!!! running on Linux. however i think for me its the other way around: 4 pcs 1 user :P. i think i better learn to tweak and maintain my computer properly.

yesterday wanted to see internship supervisor. so off i went to engin faculty. wanted to set up my comp first before seeing supervisor so got a bench and started to boot up my comp. everything looked fine. then i tried to open stuff. Opera and taskmanager because i know my Opera starts up slowly. so i waited. and waited. and waiting…. so i tried to see how much free space i had left. open up My Computer (which is renamed to TheWeed’s Domain :P) and see i have 300MB+ of free space!!%$!&^%$^&!%$^&! i was like “WHAT THE HECK!&$*!&^$^!&*$!” i had FreeRAM XP running it says i still have 200MB+ of RAM FREE!!!! and when i checked earlier that day I had roughly 1gig of free space left. so whats with all the virtual RAM being used!*!&$^!!!! ok either the comp was slowed down sooooo much that it didnt refresh or something wrong with my other 256MB RAM that I got the other time, like maybe its not registering properly. but it shloud be as its detected by the BIOS. *shrug* so finally after 20min+ of waiting and fiddling around with this and that. taskmanager and Opera FINALLY open. ok Opera is slow at startup due to mail and cache and also due to the little amount of hard disk space available but for taskmanager to take so long to open!?!?!!? i mean what the heck?!?! it should be up and open quickly. its a part of the freaking operating system. i opened up separate windows within that 20min and taskmanager still wasnt up yet?!?!?! COME ON!!!!!

so when i FINALLY got everything up and running went to find my supervisor who wasnt in… just great… so all i have for that was more m$ cursing….

so back in room after that i was giving AutoPatcher a try. its supposedly has all of windows patches and updates EXCLUDING SP1. but you can download that separately from m$ so not too much of a biggie to me. its supposed to detect the current patchs and updates installed on the system. however it didnt on mine…. so it took like 3hrs installing patches and what not to my computer. so my computer was rendered ‘useless’. not to mention i didnt have a net connection due to the fact that my bro was using the desktop.
but after bro left i wanted to do some work. tried to retrieve a file from the IES computer. took like 30min to transfer the 180MB+ file. and find out its the WRONG file… want the heck.. life just has it in 4 me doesnt it?
so ended up the whole day was more or less ‘wasted’ with little work done…
i want to get the work over and done with so i can go back on the 12th without anything left that i need to do.
worked till midnight then played till 3am in the morn. and was up at abt 10+ this morning so roughly 7hrs of sleep… and its practically lunch time now. go get some lunch then sit my butt in front of this comp and start work… sigh…

‘officially’ that is. been coding throughout the day today. and actually change alot of the underlying code to make it easier for user to input questions.
still a few more little features I would like to add to question management currently. Still have yet to implement a Java applet out of Jex though its possible. however if i implement it there will be alot more parsing to do :|:|
anyway with just a few minor bits of coding left for the system it feels good :D:D
then the drudgery of inputting solutions to the questions that i have already dumped in the database. thats will be boring… :(
not going to bro’s graduation now since he told me he gave his other ticket to his friend. not that i really mind especially since i do have 2 more years left :P
and also might be better as IES Orientation mail run will be commencing next week. basically its fold letters, put them in an envelope and the seal the envelope then bring the envelopes to OSA (office of student affairs) and stick a label on it. possibly more boring than inputting solutions? i think so. its the same old thing to do again and again. however routine is good because its kind of mindless so you dont have to really think to much. inputting solutions you have to following each step by step then debug and test to make sure it works ok.
1 month of holidays left and I kind of feel like I wasted it. havent really done anything much for myself this holidays… sigh…
wanted to retouch stuff on the site didnt get around to doing it.
wanted to learn Java GUI, did a bit at the beginning of the holidays before internship started but it twiddled away.
wanted to learn XML. havent even read anything about it.
and with 1 month left of the holidays I still have to finish up 3 more websites (NOT including mine) and more IES stuff….
IES becoming kind of a drag… its kind of annoying being ‘tech savvy’ people and thus end up doing the computer work. Im not saying I dislike doing computer work. Im not in Computer Engineering for nothing, but there are just some things that I dont really want to do like the slide show…..
then I have to convert a bit of it to flash for the website… sigh…. life… so much work. so little time left to play and enjoy.
worse of all my dearest Chee’s back home… :(
noone to talk to on a regular basis to vent my frustrations to and to enjoy some time with…. just hopefully next Monday the 12th of July I’ll be flying back with mom to go back home, internship ‘done’, IES stuff done so I can relax and possible do my own work!!!!!!!

3 trips already and i believe i cant make it in 4 trips like the last time around. but then again thats reasonable as it can an extra computer now and also my stuff that i dumped with my bro the last time around before i moved and also a bit of my bro’s stuff :P
a little rest after 3 rounds and hopefully my new room will dry by then.
i washed it in after round 2 =p
in round 3 there was a cleaning crew in my old/new cluster (the cluster im moving to) and one guy asked me whats with all the water seeping out of my room :P
told him it was me cleaning because he thought it was someone who forgot to switch off the tap :P
ok.. rest a bit more then round 4 and 5 (and 6 if need be but hopefully not :P)

been a long day… wanted to get new mobile phone due to old screen dying :P
before going out contemplated on which subscriber whether I should stay with M1 or hop over to Singtel. kind of decided to go Singtel. but still not too sure… 1st of all the annoyance of changing subscribers and my phone number. then cost came in. I feel im paying too much for my current plan which is $32.50 without caller ID which is another $5. the good thing about this plan is I have never exceeded the quota given to me $45 worth of calls and SMS. extra costs will come in throught global SMSes back home and overseas calls which I cant do yet, need activation. But as of August I will get $30 base fee due to customer loyalty thingy. but still the $5 caller ID which I actually think i dont really need, so might dump that away.
then the Singtel plan is $29 base charge. 200min worth of talktime and 360 SMSes a month. I’m not sure if I can keep within the quota and if i dont, Singtel’s per minute billing is overall more expensive than M1’s. Also M1 can call back home to Brunei at 1/2 the price if I get IDD calling activated!!! 1/2 the price man!!! but Singtel gives me caller ID….. then the bit about getting a NEW phone comes in… adds more complication into the matter as you get a very good deal if you get a 2 years contract new line. much more explaining and typing i need to do which im lazy to type :P
basically lots of thinking, and not a real decision made, but was going for singtel. so out i went.
on the bus what did i remember. i FORGOT MY PASSPORT!!!!!! i took it out to do some registration on the M1 website….. i guess they dont want me to hop over do they? :P
but maybe thats a good thing. actually the M1 plan I have is pretty good and they dont offer it anymore. but still the new handset bit comes into the picture now. I still need a new handset. my screen on my current phone is dying. went out and looked around. luckily (maybe) i saw a bluetooth adaptor for nokia phones. and since i dont really want a phone with a camera (was looking at Sony Ericsson T610) i can get a ‘normal’ phone with java and just add the bluetooth adaptor.
so more looking through phones tonight and tomorrow so i might stick with M1 afterall :P all because of M1 and having to register my passport expiry date and me taking out my passport and forgetting it :P

yes… sad but true.. happened 2 be twice just now. 1st time was just deleting 1 program.. the 2nd time i managed to delete 1 program but it hung on trying to delete the 2nd program…

get a call this morn and found my replacement zire71 is here in pgp.
brought the old 1 back due to a funny screen that sensed pressure at 1 pt on the screen even tho i didnt touch it…

then now as i was goin to do a website 4 my fren i realised it deleted another website for another fren’s business….
must have accidentally moved it 2 the external HD that was giving me problems so i formated it….
sucks.. luckily i uploaded the site to a server b4 so not ALL is lost but the ‘hardest’ and most time consuming part was lost… sucks heck….
life doesnt come easy….
and life’s nvr easy on me…..
go get apple and back 2 work 2 rectify the problem…..
